ECODESIGN意思是在产品的生命周期内提高环境保护作为产品设计的目标。其目的减少产品对环境的影响，在耗能产品的整个生命周期内。除去使用者的习惯之外，有两种互补性的方式可以降低产品的能耗：通过在产品上粘贴标记，让消费者觉察到产品真是的能耗来影响消费者的购买决定（比如在家电产品上粘贴能耗标记），另外一种方法是从产品设计阶段考虑降低产品的能耗。
ECODESIGN means the integration of environmental aspects into product design with the aim of improving the environmental performance of the product throughout its whole life cycle.
Ecodesign aims at reducing the environmental impact of products, including the energy consumption throughout their entire life cycle. Apart from the user’s behaviour, there are two complementary ways of reducing the energy consumed by products: labelling to raise awareness of consumers on the real energy use in order to influence their buying decisions （such as labelling schemes for domestic appliances）， and energy efficiency requirements imposed to products from the early stage on the design phase.
ERP指令是CE强制指令，满足ERP指令以及其它全部相关指令后制造商可以在产品上粘贴CE标志。

IEC 60034-30:2008 specifies efficiency classes for single-speed, three-phase,50 Hz and 60 Hz
频率为50Hz和60Hz，电压1000V及以下，功率范围为0.75~370kW，极数为2、4、6极，工作制为S1（连续运行）或运行时间大于或等于80%的S3（间隙周期运行），防护等级为IP2x、IP4x、IP5x或IP6x，效率的确定采用IEC 60034-2-1规定的“求取各损耗分量之和的效率简接测定法”，效率等级分为4级：
标准效率 （IE1）
高效率 （IE2）
超高效率 （IE3）
超超高效率 （IE4）
对应于50Hz和60Hz分别各有一个效率等级。对应于50Hz的标准效率指标（IE1）和高效率指标（IE2）分别参照EU-CEMEP协议的eff2和eff1指标，考虑杂耗的实际值后进行了折算。超高效率指标（IE3）则通过高效率指标损耗下降15%求得。对应于60Hz的标准效率指标（IE1） 是参考巴西的指标，高效率指标（IE2）是参考美国的EPACT指标。超高效率指标（IE3）是参照美国NEMA Premium指标。
